Thank you for your interest in the Sky High Tri. To register for the event please visit the Aquatic Center, our registration website, or call us during regular business hours. This is the first Sky High Triathlon. There are individual and relay races being offered in the hope that everyone who has a desire to join in the fun can participate. White Pine Aquatic Center has partnered with Ely Outdoor Enthusiasts to offer this event.

Packet Pick-up:

Packet pick-up will be Friday, August 10th 4 pm to 6 pm at the White Pine County Aquatic Center Conference Room. It is highly encouraged everyone please pick up your packet in advance. To help with this process participants will be allowed to have family members or other participants pick up packets. Email Megan Brown if you are unable to pick up your packet at this time or have any questions.

Race Day Agenda & Morning Meeting Details:

Parking will be available at White Pine County Aquatic Center and White Pine High School for the day of the race. Participants will be allowed to drop off their equipment in the transition area, located on the road adjacent to the Aquatic Center, between 7:30 am and 8:30 am. All cars will be removed from the transition area road at 8:30 am. The adult race will begin at 9:00 am. The morning meeting will be held at exactly 8:45 am in the transition area. The race for kids 8 to 16 years of age will begin at 10:30 am followed by the Tiny Tikes Race, ages 4 to 7 years, at 11:00 am.

Race Description

Racing Requirements: All Swimmers must wear the provided racing caps. If you do not wear the provided racing cap then you will not be allowed to race. Swimming Fins and snorkels will also not be allowed during the swimming portion of the race. Bike drafting will not be allowed during the biking portion of the race and all participants will be required to wear a helmet. No electric bikes allowed in the race.

Timing Chip and Body Marking guidelines: Each individual participant (adult race only) will be given a timing chip at packet pick up. In addition to bib identification, individuals will also have their bib number marked on the arm to help identify them throughout the race.

Swim Caps: There will be a race day swim cap provided for each participant in their welcome packet. It is required that all swimmers use this swim cap during the swimming portion. No Cap = No Swim

Swim: 300-yard indoor pool swim. The swimming portion of the race will begin with a time trial start in waves 15 seconds apart. Time trial starts will be based on estimated finishing times, if you would like to complete a time trial you may visit the aquatic center the week of August 5, 2018 to complete such free of charge. Each swimmer will enter the pool feet first and do a push start. Each swimmer will complete a 50-yard swim in each lane using a circle swimming pattern. After completing their 50 yards the swimmer leading will move under the lane line to the next lane followed by the remaining swimmers to continue their laps. See the map on the next page. In the case of needing to pass a swimmer, the passing swimmer will tap the swimmer ahead of them after which this swimmer will stop at the wall and allow the passing swimmer to continue ahead of them. During the Kids and Tiny Tikes race if a child needs a lifejacket to participate they will be allowed to wear one.

Bike: The 12-mile bike will begin in the transition area after the swim portion of the race. The bikers will depart from the transition are and travel to Bobcat Drive, east to Mineral Drive, up the top of Mineral drive and back down to the intersection of Route 50 and Mineral Drive. The route will follow Route 50 to Madison Avenue, this section of the race is on a state highway and will travel with traffic. Spotters will be provided to help control this section of the race to ensure safety to our riders. Bikers will continue on Madison Ave to California Ave to Grant Ave to Pennsylvania Ave to 13th Street. At 13th Street and Avenue M bikers will travel on Avenue M to 16th Street to Ave. G and then back to 13th Street. Bikers will follow essentially the same route to return to the transition area adjacent to the Aquatic Center to begin their run. There will be a first aid/water station at the turn around on Mineral drive as well as Avenue M and 13th Street.

Run: The running portion of the race will begin in the transition area adjacent to the Aquatic Center. The route will take runners in the same direction as the biking route. Runners head to Bobcat Drive past the High school runners will then continue on Bobcat Drive to Mineral Drive to the turnaround spot at the top of Mineral Drive and then continue the same route back to the finish line. There will be a water and first aid station at the turnaround on Mineral Drive.

Award Times and Medal distribution:  Awards will be distributed to the top three adult finishers in each category. Adult's awards ceremony will be at 10:45 am in the Aquatic Center Conference Room. Kids and Tiny Tikes awards will follow immediately after the completion of the Tiny Tikes race. All Kids and Tiny Tikes will get a participation award.

Race Day Sign Ups: There are no race day signups for Adult races. Kids and Tiny Tike races will be allowed to have same day sign-ups. Please note that this will not guarantee a swag bag for any race day sign-ups.

Kids Races and Tiny Tikes – We highly recommend all parents participate and encourage their children in their triathlon experience. During the Kids Race (ages 8 to 14) parents are allowed to help their child in all transition areas. We also encourage the parents to help motivate their kids by standing along the course to cheer and take pictures of them participating. During the Tiny Tikes Race (ages 4 to 7) parents are welcome to complete the race with their children and assist the child as may be needed.

Biking and Running Routes: All routes will be marked with mile markers and arrows to help guide participants. Spotters will also be present throughout the course and at first aid stations and each turn around point.

Spotter and First Aid Stations: There will be three First Aid Stations along the route. One will be placed near the transition area in the Aquatic Center parking lot. The second and third stations will be placed at the turn around spots on both the bike and running routes.

Awards and Swag: All racers will receive an awesome t-shirt, finisher's medal and other exciting things in a swag bag. Shirt cut-off date is July 31, 2018. To ensure you receive a shirt you must register and have shirt size submitted by that date. First, Second, and Third place adult finishers will receive a trophy.

Finish Line Hydration and Goodies: There will be a table at the finish line for all racers that will offer a choice of PowerAde or Water along with a Banana and or Apple.
